Player’s Choice End Game Notes
Pick asked me for a write up on how I won Player’s Choice, so here it is in a nutshell.
I would have to attribute the biggest reasons for my victory to alliances and time. Playing the Privateers, the biggest mistake players in a game can make is to leave them alone and let them build their starbases and MBR's. By the time anyone took any aggressive action toward me, it was turn 60 and I already had 80+ MBR's. No one playing the Privateers should lose if left alone for that long. I also made non aggression pacts with my nearby neighbors, so that I did not have to worry about them in the beginning as long as they honored them (which they did). Later on they were each eliminated by other races, but held them away from me valiantly until I was already too powerful to be stopped. I also have to give GREAT recognition to my ally from the beginning to the end, Gil (Ramutis Giliauskas). Playing the Crystals, he guaranteed my victory by protecting my area with strategically placed Web's and distracting other races so I could sneak in the back door and rob them after their fleets had moved to attack him. Throughout the game, he had several offers to turn on me, but honored our alliance to the end. I can't express how much I appreciate and honor that. I only regret I couldn't help him get into the top 3. (Thanks a million Gil!!!)
That's about it. If you have any further questions, just ask away.
